The TECHTRA Technology Transfer Institute deals with the research and development of the latest dual-use technologies, that can be used for both civilian and defense purposes. Our goal is to provide a technological knowledge center and transfer between actors in the commercial and academic worlds and thereby make domestic enterprises and dual-use developments more competitive.

The task of the Research and Development Division is to carry out defense R&D activities using research resources.

The National Laboratory for Cooperative Technologies (KTNL) builds and develops multi-purpose industrial innovation capacities and competences.

Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division

The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division coordinates and organizes the utilization of multi-purpose knowledge assets that serve to strengthen our country's resilience.

A cooperation agreement was signed on 28 August between the National Laboratory for Cooperative Technologies (NLCT), led by the TECHTRA Technology Transfer Institute, and the National Laboratory for Autonomous Systems (NLAS), led by the Institute for Computer Science and Control (ICSC), to promote collaborative development in the fields of technology, innovation, and autonomous systems.

Following extensive research and preparatory work, the loan-to-capital instrument will be introduced on 1 September 2023, a long-awaited tool for the Hungarian startup and innovator ecosystem. Reducing the administrative and legal burdens of raising capital is the most frequently requested change proposal in the annual startup reports (n=160 sample size). This could be significantly addressed by this financing option.

A cooperation agreement has been signed between the National Laboratory of Cooperative Technologies (NLCT) and the Hungarian Scientific Bibliography (HSB). Thanks to the agreement, the NLCT can now add its scientific work to the data holdings of the HSB.

A two-round student innovation idea competition ended on 12 April 2023, when the Innovation and Technology Office of the National University of Public Service (NUPS) hosted the final of the NUPS Hackathon 2023. Six teams presented their innovation idea, which was evaluated by a jury of university and industry representatives.

The Hungarian Association of Young Farmers, Agrya, held the workshop conference “Farmers for Sustainability” on February 15, 2023. The professional program of the event was strengthened by Dr Péter Feldmann, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Péter Pillók, the director of Századvég, Attila Kökény, an expert from Agreena, and Tibor Gulyás CEO, representing the TECHTRA Technology Transfer Institute, gave a presentation entitled “The importance of dual-purpose developments in agriculture”.

For the first time, the TECHTRA Technology Transfer Institute organized a series of professional lectures with the participation of more than thirty people in the historic Hilton hotel. During the all-day workshop in English, the potential partners dealing with additive manufacturing technology introduced themselves to each other, and the event ended with a useful round table discussion, where the professional representatives of the participating universities and international companies agreed on short- and long-term joint strategic thinking.

The purpose of the visit was to promote TECHTRA and lay the foundation for an AM-themed meeting in Budapest, which would directly contribute to the development of the Hungarian additive manufacturing technology ecosystem.
